RockaBounce

Overview

A project undertaken for my first furniture class at OCADU, RockaBounce is about exploring the origins of furniture as vital support for human activity. The concept of this chair was born from my nostalgic feeling about rocking chairs, the vintage look and the relaxing set of feelings that are imprinted in the very structure of the chair. When we talk about the origin of chairs, the iconic rocking chair is often the first image that comes to mind.

Interior Design Show (IDS) in 2015

King Console Table

Overview

The Monarch Custom Plywood Inc. Prizewinner, the red oak King console table, was created for GUS Design Group, a furniture design and manufacturing company in Toronto. The project aimed to design an accent piece addressing the storage needs of apartment living while aligning with GUS' brand identity. Inspired by GUS' Stanley console table, the King console table features a slanted and recessed design to collect and organize items like keys and phones. The CNC'd feature offers a solution to clutter, an industrial aesthetic, adjustable legs for stability on uneven surfaces, and eliminates the front bar for easy access to everyday shoes. The result is a minimalist yet highly functional design.

Kova Studio Collection

Overview

A furniture company specializing in refurbishing, giving second life to furniture that may have lost their homes but could be restored. As designers, we often invest more time in designing new products as opposed to curating new solutions to up-cycle existing furniture. Kova Studio was specifically incepted to bring innovative methods of reconditioning vintage furniture through creative design expertise.

Moblé Studio Collection

Overview

A Toronto-based furniture design and manufacturing startup, that creates customizable coffee and side tables that are simple, clean and functional. Moblé was inspired by modest forms, honest materials and everyday objects. Designs would be custom modified allowing the customer to choose dimensions, materiality, patterns and also make design tweaks. With the help of our professional digital fabrication, specializing in laser cutting, we were able to create endless possibilities in the design. This new technology was used to manufacture computer generated patterns and shapes in great details to reduce the labor costs associated with production.

Tolu Floor Lamp

Overview

Fascinated with lighting fixtures and how lighting plays an important role in setting a mood while enriching the overall feeling, I designed a floor lamp called Tolu. With a cherry wood base, this light fixture carries a handcrafted bronze piece on top surrounded with intricate paneling patterns that further augment the user experience.

Lean Sewing Chair

Overview

The Lean ergonomic chair, developed as a thesis project at OCAD University for clothing factory workers using sewing machines for prolonged periods, offers essential features for comfort and well-being. With a built-in height adjuster, the chair ensures spinal support and stabilization for various body types during extended work hours. Its ergonomic design promotes good posture, back support, a natural lower back curve, exceptional cushioned comfort, and a contoured saddle-style seat. The chair's smaller seat width discourages hunching, and a forward tilting mechanism enhances workers' proximity to their tasks. Additionally, feet levellers and two drawers for equipment storage contribute to the chair's functionality, while a red upholstery adds a touch of detail and increases performance levels.
